Eight-Legged Freaks: Herbie Edition
It only has six legs.
Even more of a freak!
Someone must have pulled two off already?
Yeah, but it’s a Beetle, not a spider. And beetles have six legs.
er…it is a Beetle long-legs…or a VW harvestman.
omg i remember seeing this as a kid! any one no where it is?
The Wizard. with fred savage.
Southern california, maybe near palm springs… I also saw it when i was a kid.. now i live in spain… man what a blast
It’s at what used to be the Black Widow raceway in Lexington, OK
This beetle in on the west side of highway 77 just north of Lexington, OK. Wilson’s VW Salvage used to be there, but Mr. Wilson passed away & his sons weren’t interested in continuing the business so they sold it. (deep sigh) They used to know me by name there!
…or Six-legged…
Can I get it in copper-orange with green-tinted windows and yellow-orange headlights?
Yeah, I know, I suggested coloring what resembled a Jeff Wayne-version Handling Machine with the color scheme of the War Machines from the 1953 movie. I thought that would make it funnier.
Sometimes my references are too obscure.
You replied… to YOURSELF!?
Spider Car!
Spider Car!
Does whatever a spider car does!
can he swing from a web?
No he can’t
He’s a car!
Lookout!
Here comes the spider Car!!
“Superfluous use of exclamation points for $500 please, Alex.”
The car of my dreams! I don’t sleep well…
I wonder if Will Smith and Kevin Kline are in that car.
Bad movie reference win!
Tommy Lee Jones, not Kevin Kline.
Years after his death and defeat in the War of Wars, Hitler’s Revenge finally came to life in the farmlands of Ohio.
That is located in Lexington, OK. My in-laws live down the road and it’s our landmark to let us know we’re almost to Grandma’s!
Over the river and past the … Bug?
Exactly!
and this is around the time a elderly transformer comes around with a bat and yells “SPIDER SPIDER!!!”and starts beating it
Source: http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/10787. I think the one in the pic is in a field a few hundred feet from the main zoo.
it’s on Hwy71 in Lexington Ok next to a volkswagon junk yard
HWY 77 actually
Imagine driving this thing down a lonely, empty stretch of highway in the dead of night, right past a police officer. Imagine him pulling you over. Imagine rolling down the window and responding to his questions just a second or two too slow, with emphasis on the wrong words and jerky, unnatural movements.
Yeah he’d probably blow your brains out in terror, but just imagine the look on his face!
I’ve seen another one of these in Palm Springs, CA. It’s right over the entrance of a business there but I can’t remember what the place sells. All I know is that I get creeped out every time I see it.
Geez emma! thats one hell of a bug bite!
This is what happens when the people at Volkswagen play too much Starship Troopers.
The Unloved Bug. It’s what you get when herbie goes over to the dark side.
Poor Dave wanted to buy a Spyder, but he got this instead.
Should be: Poor Dave wanted to buy a Spyder, but the auto dealer made a typo and got him this instead.
It’s really not funny after you comment on your own comment.
That’s just because my first comment was redundant. Gotta change it before it gets attacked by trolls like you.
Does that make me a troll? (Look in above comments for G. James.)
It’s only a matter of time before Cyriak makes an animation with this pic.
There is another one like this in Reno, near Silver Springs. Just hadn’t gotten to submitting my pic yet!
it’s not there anymore
They moved it off the fire house a few months ago, but it’s still in the area. Probably crawled under a bed warehouse.
It is cute. Clearly supposed to be a morph between spider (8 legs) and bug (6 legs). Teenage Mutant Ninja Bug ?
That thing used to scare me when i was younger and we would drive past it.
Bumblebee and Black Arachnia were indescreet and now their secret is out and roaming the backroads of the MidWest
“WHO’S THE SLUG BUG NOW MOTHER F***ER! WHO IT BE! THAT’S RIGHT! BOW TO THE BEETLE SONOFAB****! WHO DAT MOTHERF***ER!”
the obvious offspring that the giant spiders in the forbidden forest made with that car ron flew into a tree
wow there’s one of those in northern Alberta (don’t recall where- nearby a town called Boyle iirc)
When bugs go bad
Once again, proof that every imaginative idea was first covered in Johnny Quest.
Just south of Noble Oklahoma. At night, the headlights/eyes glow bright red..
POOR DAVE?!?!
I’d say Dave got the single coolest deal EVER!
There was one of these in reno nv
Coming this Fall. Tim Burton presents: Herbie
I’ve seen it many times! I’m an Okie!
