Apparently, the secret to perfect driving is white socks and penny loafers!
Ayrton Senna is widely accepted as the best racing driver in history. This video proves that you don’t need racing leathers and a helmet to pull top times in an Acura NSX on the Suzuka Circuit. All you need is a business suit and a pair of penny loafers!
RIP Ayrton Senna- You are missed.

I could watch this all day
If you haven’t seen/don’t watch Top Gear, you wouldn’t know that Bugatti just released a super sport model of their already stupid fast Veyron. They were upset about losing the title of world’s fastest car to the SSC Ultimate Aero, an American car that took the title from Bugatti back in 2007.
Not to be beaten, Bugatti created this modern marvel and it goes without saying that the Top Gear boys needed to put it in the hands of their tame racing driver to see how fast it really is. See for yourself:
Flying Cars Are Here!

Terrafugia have finally released new photographs of their much drooled over Transition. A front wheel drive, 30mpg car that can “transition” into a full fledged airplane that can fly over 450 miles at 115mph! They don’t require a pilot’s license. All you need is 20 hours of practice time, and you’re good to drive/fly!
While this car has been in the “proof of concept” stage for some time, they have finally released some new production renderings showing us what this air-car will look like when it starts being manufactured.

MSRP is a cool $194,000, and you can reserve one on their website for just $10,000.
Happy flying!

Mongolian Rally Mondays! – Rally Start Day!

Time For another Monday installment of our Mongolian Rally team!
Today is the big day! The team worked the whole week getting the car decked out with decals and extremely essential gear. It’s starting to look like a real rally car!

The kick off event starts in Goodwood, home to the world famous “Festival of Speed”, an event featuring high end supercars. This event is aptly titled “The Festival of Slow“, and features, largely, a bunch of crap cars, loaded down far past their intended capacity.
Prepping for the big day required constant dedication and vigilance without the slightest lapse in concentration…. wait, this isn’t Formula-1.

Using another team’s vehicle for its clearly intended purpose.
After a hard night’s work, it was time for race day!
There were so many interesting downright weird modified cars showed up to race! Home-made snorkels, stuffed animals and even an old Rolls-Royce, complete with a 50cc motorcycle on the roof!

Kiwis Are Krazy!
They better be prepared to buff out more than just their knees if they take a dive at that speed….
BONUS!
Wide lanes and straight lines are for girls! Let’s see those Kiwis bombing some Northern California back-roads!
Wish List Wednesday! – Try And Buff This Out And I’ll Cut You.
Something new today buffer outers! Or, in this case, something old. I give you a choice between a few cars that I wish upon wish were in my garage.
All of my picks for this week’s wish list are from the pre-war era.

The Bugatti Type 57c: Inline 8 cylinder engine 3,3 liters. Built in 1939, it was a wedding gift to Shah of Persia from the government of France

Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B Corto Touring Berlinetta: In line 8 cylinders 2,9 liters engine. Only 20 of these cars were built between 1937 and 1939.

Talbot-Lago T150 C Figoni et Falaschi ‘Goutte d’Eau’: 4 liter 6 cylinder in line engine. One of only 16 units built. Valued at somewhere around $3 million.

Rolls Royce Phantom – Jonckheere Coupé: 7,7 liters 6 cylinder in line. Only one built in Belgium in the 30s. Last sold at an auction for $1.5 million.

Mongolian Rally Mondays!

It’s Monday again! That means another update from our intrepid team of drivers preparing to brave the wilds of Southern Asia!
The team is still getting ready for the start of the event that gets underway next week and that means prepping the car for the perils of a harsh environment. You can’t have a proper adventure without Duct Tape!
Tuesday, I ran some errands, got some needed parts for the car; wiper blades, air filter, duct tape, and most importantly some new tyres for the car.
I got a set of nice reinforced commercial rated tires put on for the trip. The place we stopped (Tyre Zone, in Stockport, near Manchester) was great. A really cool bunch of guys, if anyone ever needs tyres in the Manchester area, this is your place.
Wednesday I made my way down to London, and picked up Christine. London is quite the adventure to get around in, especially when you are not completely used to the car, and which side of the road you are supposed to be on. With only a little help, some poorly scaled maps, and an international phone call or 2, we made it to the train station, where we hopped a train for France.
I will be back in the UK next Monday night, and the team will be at full strength then, and it willl be full on rally prep time.

Stay tuned next week for more of the team’s progress on their trek, but if you’d like to donate, or read up on their progress yourself, here is their official homepage!
